Benghazi, 24 May 2014:
Hundreds of protestors converged outside Benghazi’s Tibesti Hotel last night to demonstrate in . . .[restrict]support of General Khalifa Hifter’s ‘Operation Dignity,’ a movement against Islamist armed groups.
More than 400 people gathered outside the hotel, chanting slogans in support of Hifter and the military, and against Islamists and the GNC. Some said that Operation Dignity was the only solution for Libya. Others said that it was a way that dignity could be restored to the Libyan people.
In Tahrir Square, a smaller number of demonstrators, estimated to be less than 200, protested against Hifter. Some of those at that protest called his actions a coup and others said his ambition to lead Libya was a fantasy. [/restrict]
