Tripoli, 25 May 2014:
Ajdabiya Local Council offices have been vandalised, in an attack local people believe was carried . . .[restrict]out by supporters of Operation Dignity.
Intruders broke into the offices in the early hours of yesterday morning, a local resident told the Libya Herald, adding that the building had been unguarded. The offices were unoccupied at the time of the attack and no-one was injured, but furnishings in the property were vandalised and several desks set alight.
“This is not the first time Council property has been targeted but this time we think it was attacked by supporters of Operation Dignity,” the resident said. The council was widely thought to be funding a local Ansar Al-Sharia-affiliated group, he said, adding that the attack was believed to be a reaction against this. [/restrict]
