Tripoli, 18 April, 2014:
Rumours on social media that the Italian ambassador has left the country because of fears . . .[restrict]about security are “ridiculous” and a fantasy’, Italian officials have told the Libya Herald. It was Easter, they said, and it was perfectly normal for the ambassador, Giuseppe Buccino Grimaldi, to have have flown to Rome to spend the holiday with his family.
Italy, and Ambassador Grimaldi in particular, they said, were fully committed to staying with Libya and helping it in its present stage of transition. He would be back next week, they confirmed.
The Ambassador himself told a member of the Libya Herald team during the week that he would be at home in Italy for Easter. [/restrict]
