Tripoli, 5 April 2014:
The Ministry of Agriculture had urged anyone who has vehicles or equipment belonging to the . . .[restrict]country’s locust-fighting teams to return these to help the country combat swarms of locusts near Zliten.
Spraying equipment and vehicles were lost and stolen during the revolution and units have been struggling to control infested areas with limited resources.
The plea has come after reports of swarms of locusts in the region of Zora, east of Zliten. The head of Zliten’s agriculture and livestock sector, Ibrahim Alrazaqi, said that the town had requested support, equipment and pesticides from the Ministry of Agriculture.
The swarms posed a serious threat to agriculture in the area, he added. [/restrict]
