Benghazi, 11 April 2014:

The kidnappers of a Benghazi engineering student have demanded a LD 1-million  ransom for his safe return.

The Benghazi University student, Mohammed Bin Issa Al-Sharis, was abducted on Venicia Street on Tuesday. He was kidnapped by gunmen who approached him in four separate cars, a member of his family told the Libya Herald.

The family member said they had received no message from Sharis or his abductors until yesterday when demands for LD 1 million were made. The kidnappers said the cost of the ransom would increase daily if there was any delay in payment.

Sharis is 21 years old.
