Tripoli, 30 April 2014:
The government has strongly condemned yesterday’s suicide attack on Saiqa Special Force’s 21 Battalion in . . .[restrict]Benghazi following an emergency cabinet meeting.
In a statement, the government called the attack “criminal” adding that the thoughts of ministers were with the families of those who had died or been injured in the incident.
The cabinet said it did not believe yesterday’s attack would deter Benghazi Joint Security Room (BJSR) and those who fell under its direction from continuing in their efforts to enforce peace in Benghazi. It added that the government would not miss an opportunity to support BJSR or supply it with whatever it required.
The statement thanks security forces in Benghazi for all there work in difficult circumstances in recent months.
Yesterday Two Saiqa Special Forces members were killed and two injured after a suicide bomber detonated explosives in his car at the entrance to the brigade’s 21 Battalion headquarters.
The attack was the second suicide bombing in Libya since the revolution. Thirteen people, civilians and security forces, were killed in December when a suicide bomber in a truck hit a military checkpoint at Bersis, 50 kilometres east of Benghazi. [/restrict]
