Tripoli, 21 March 2014:
A rocket exploded off the airport road this evening. According to officials in the security directorate . . .[restrict]and the fire department, it hit the offices of the intelligence department.
The explosion was heard over much of Tripoli and shook windows as far away as Zawiat Al-Dahmani and Fashloom, and was the loudest since the revolution.
There are reports from the Ministry of the Interior that it went off accidentally. However, according to an official at the security directorate, it is not known who fired it.
No one was injured in the explosion.
Believing that it heralded an assault, residents in nearby Abu Sleem started firing into the air to warn off potential attackers. The area is now quiet, however. [/restrict]
