Tripoli, 25 January 2014:
A popular radio broadcaster, and former spokesman for the Benghazi Joint Security Room, survived an assassination . . .[restrict]attempt in Benghazi this morning.
Colonel Abdullah Zaidi was repeatedly shot in Benghazi’s Garyounis area, near the tourist village complex on the western outskirts of the city. He was rushed to one of Benghazi’s hospitals where he is now being treated for gunshot wounds.
Zaidi reportedly has bullet wounds to the neck, hand and stomach, but a hospital source told the Libya Herald that he was in a stable condition.
Since the revolution, Zaidi has been the host of a popular daily talk-show called ‘Fazaat Libya,’ which tackles a different topic every day.
Zaidi said on his programme that he had been repeatedly threatened, but insisted that he was not afraid and would not let such threats stop him from broadcasting. [/restrict]
