A delegation of naval officers, headed by the Chief of Staff for the Navy, Commodore Hassan . . .[restrict]Boushnak, has been to Algeria to discuss new areas of cooperation with the Algerian navy.
The senior officers toured a number of top level Algerian naval facilities at the end of last month including the headquarters for the Algerian coastguard, the navy academy at at Tamentfoust and the country’s hydrographical centre. The delegation also visited the historic Algerian naval base at Mers el Kébir, north west of Oran, where they discussed possibilities for collaboration and future joint action.
At the conclusion of the visit, the Commandant for Algerian Naval Forces, Major General Malek Necib, said that the resources of the Algerian Navy, particularly in the field of training, lay open to Libya. For his part, Commodore Boushnak thanked his Algerian hosts for their warm reception and the spirit of genuine brotherhood which had characterised their discussions. [/restrict]
