The Libyan government are to send footballers to Sweden for training in a five-year deal at a cost . . .[restrict]of LD 92 million.
Initially 60 Libyan players, to be selected by representatives from Sweden’s Ostersund football club, will be sent to the country in March for nine months of education and training, according to a Reuters report. Next year, a further 250 Libyan players will go to Sweden.
Players will reportedly study English, computers, and sports management and administration as well as receive football training.
“From a Swedish perspective, it is absolutely the biggest soccer-related deal that has been signed,” chairman of the Ostersund Superettan team told Swedish paper Sportbladet. [/restrict]
