Benghazi, 11 January 2014:
A car bomb exploded in the early hours of yesterday morning near the former site of the tomb of Omar Mokhtar in Benghazi.
No one was harmed in the attack but the explosion caused extensive damage to nearby buildings and vehicles, including some owned by the Saiqa Special Forces.
Members of the Special Forces stationed nearby reported that the blast came from a bomb inside an Opal Corsa car at 5 am. The vehicle had reportedly been parked there since the previous morning.
The Special Forces bomb disposal unit yesterday successfully diffused a six kilogram bomb hidden in a bag outside the house of a member of the force Abdelsalam Mustafa Alsager. [/restrict]
