Benghazi, 7 November 2013:
A former revolutionary and current member of Brigade 319, Salim Nabbous, escaped without injury last . . .[restrict]night when an explosive device blew up his car in Benghazi.
“He had just got out of the car to go into a shop in Benghazi’s Birkha district when the bomb exploded,” spokesman for the Benghazi Joint Security Room Abdullah Zaidi told the Libya Herald.
“We believe the heat of the engine caused the device to explode,” he said, adding that the bomb did not appear to have been remotely detonated.
Zaidi also said perhaps the attacker knew Nabbous, also a former revolutionary in Zintan Martyrs’ Brigade, personally because the device was found inside the car, directly under the driver’s seat. In previous incidents where security officials have been targeted, bombs have been placed underneath the outside of the car. [/restrict]
