Tripoli, 28 September 2013:
The Tripoli highway heading east towards Tajoura was closed this afternoon by youths from Al-Ghararat, between . . .[restrict]Tajoura and Suq Al-Juma, who placed a truck across the roadway. They were protesting about the death in custody today of a local man who had been arrested yesterday.
He was arrested reportedly for drugs offences by a SSC support unit.
The incident recalls a similar event at the beginning of year when there were road blocks in Ben Ashour and Fashloum following the death in custody of another man accused of being a drugs dealer.
It was not the only road closure in and around Tripoli today. The main road leading to the capital, between Aziziya through to Sadeya up to Zahra bridge was blocked by gunmen. The reasons are unclear. [/restrict]
