Congress is due to vote tomorrow for a new First Deputy President to replace Juma Ateega . . .[restrict]who resigned following the enactment of the Political Isolation Law.
The candidates are:
- Omar Khaled al-Obeidi (Independent, Benghazi)
- Ezzidden Mohamed Younis Yahya Al-Awami (Independent, Marj)
- Awad Mohammed Awad Abdul Saddeq (Independent, Jalu).
The post of Honorary Secretary or Rapporteur will also be elected to replace the former occupant, Nuri Abu Sahmain, now President of the General National Congress.
Saleh Al-Makhzoum, the Second Deputy President of Congress, has been acting as sole deputy since the resignation of Juma Ateega. [/restrict]
