Tripoli, 16 August 2013:
The Egyptian Coast Guard is reported to have arrested a cargo vessel yesterday loaded with weapons from Libya. It is said to have set sail from Misrata two days ago.
An attempt by Tobruk Coast Guard to intercept the Comoros-flagged United apparently failed when the ship increased its speed to 9.7 knots. The Egyptian Coast Guard was then informed and, according to numerous reports of social media sites, was able to detain it.
The reports are as yet unconfirmed. However, according to the maritime tracking website, marinetraffic.com, Misrata was its last port of call. Its destination was officially Port Said but it is now off Alexandria.
