Prime Minister Ali Zeidan revealed at today’s press conference that an ambassador had had his car stopped at gun point and had been forced out of his car and had had his wallet stolen. He did not reveal the identity of the ambassador.
Revealingly, Zeidan warned Libyans who attack or pillage foreign property that they are being “recorded” and that they could end up “being listed as terrorists”, without giving any further clarification to his statement.
It is presumed that by “recorded” Zeidan was referring to recording by CCTV cameras as opposed to by satellites in the sky or drones.
Furthermore, and using unusually strong language, not hitherto associated with this Prime Minister, he added that the “Libyan state will not protect anyone who breaks the law” and transgresses on the State’s and on international organization’s properties or rights.
The Prime Minister said that these criminal activities had become “terrorist activities in the full meaning of the word”.
Zeidan, using unusually strong language and in a raised tone of voice said that “If this is interpreted as a threat, then so be it”. [/restrict]
