Tripoli, 21 August 2013:
Hatif Libya (“Libya Telecom”) has signed a contract with a French telecommunications company Alcatel-Lucent to extend and upgrade . . .[restrict]the landline telephone network in Libya south of Tripoli and in the Western Mountains.
The Chairman of Hatif Libya, Mahmoud Aujali was quoted by the Libyan news agency LANA saying that the project would result in improved services in areas south of Tripoli, in southern Libya and the Jebel Nafusa. The work would take 25 weeks to complete.
In May, Alcatel Lucent won a contract to install new switches for international calls to cover the Benghazi-Derna region.
