Benghazi, 3 August 2013:
The Commander of Sebha Security Support Forces, Colonel Fozi El-Ujali, was killed yesterday late evening in Benghazi’s Sabri disrict.
“El-Ujali was visiting some of his relatives and going shopping for Eid in Benghazi, but unfortunately he was assassinated by an unknown group by a bomb attached to his car near Al-Tahadi Club Shops”, the spokesman for the Benghazi Joint Security Room, Mohamed Hejazi told the Libya Herald.
The incident took place around 12:30 am, Hejazi said, and it caused damage to shops near the blast.
Benghazi has been witnessing a fierce campaign of assassinations and explosions recently targeting security men in the face of what seems the absence of the Ministry of Interior.
The violence seems to be continuing despite the spokesman for the Interior Ministry, Ramy Kaal, telling Libya Herald recently that security in Benghazi was at a “good level”. [/restrict]
