Tripoli, 30 July 2013:
Colonel Abdulsalam Jad Allah Al-Salheen Al-Obaidi has been appointed as the new Chief of Staff.
Al-Obaidi has a degree . . .[restrict]in military science and has held various positions in the Libyan Army, including Special Forces Commander. He also fought in the 17 February Revolution.
Previous Chief of Staff, Major-General Yousef Mangoush, resigned in early June, following bloody clashes in Benghazi that left 31 people dead.
Since his resignation, Deputy Chief of Staff, Salem Al-Gnaidi, has been acting Army head. [/restrict]
