Benghazi, 11 May 2013:
The commission set up to control and regulat of foreign labor as well as illegal immigration and refugees . . .[restrict]in Benghazi has warned of a growing influx of migrant workers, illegal immigrants and refugees to Libya. In a statement issued today, it said the situation was serious, getting worse and having a negative impact on Libyan society.
The commission has called on the Government and Congress. To take action to reduce the flow of immigrants into the country as well as regulate and restrict the number of refugees. This had to be done, it said, to minimise the security, economic, political and social risks to the fabric of Libyan society that migration was causing.
In its statement, which it has sent both the Congress and the Government, the commission said that both bodies needed to act decisively on the matter.
