Following his visit to Oman, the President of the General National Congress, Mohamed Maqarief, arrived today . . .[restrict]in Qatar’s capital Doha on an official visit. He was met at the airport by – Qatar’s heir apparent, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani. In brief talks, Magarief and the delegation accompanying him, touched on opportunities to develop relations between the two states.
While in Qatar, Magarief is to hold talks with the Emir, Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani on consolidating ties.
Qatar played a pivotal role during the revolution, providing the anti-Qaddafi movement with funds, weapons, diplomatic support and a number of troops. However since then, it has been stung by accusations that it was beginning to interfere in Libyan politics. [/restrict]
