Despite some inspired offensive play and dogged defence, Ahli Tripoli, one of three Libyan clubs taking part in . . .[restrict]the African Volleyball Championship here in Tripoli, was edged into third place after a week of hard-fought competition between 17 teams.
The finals, between two Tunisian clubs, saw Sfax qualify to go to this year’s Volleyball World Cup in Brazil, defeating Taraji Sport 3-2.
Ahli Tripoli gained third position by defeating Kenyan Prisons 3-0.
Among the individual awards presented for excellence displayed during this, the 32rd African Volleyball Championships, Ahli Tripoli’s Foad Almarok won Best Striker and Ahli Benghazi’s Mohammed Slamah was chosen as Best Middle Blocker.
