Tripoli, 28 March 2013:
There is a film showing tonight, . . .[restrict]Thursday, of Nuovo Cinema Paradiso directed by Giuseppe Tornatore at Tripoli’s Art House on Al-Sekka Road at 5.00pm.
Award-winning Nuovo Cinema Paradiso tells the story of a prominent film-maker who returns to his village to attend the funeral of the town’s former film projectionist. In so doing, he recalls his youth, when he and his fellow townspeople tried to escape the grim realities of post-war Italy in the local cinema. He also discovers that the late projectionist has bequeathed him an unusual gift.
Starring Jacques Perrin and Philippe Noiret, the 1988 Italian drama film, with English subtitles, features music composed by Ennio Morricone.
The film showing is the last screening of the Arete Cinema Club’s Winter/Spring season. It will be preceded by a reception hosted by the Italian Cultural Institute.
