Tripoli, 13 March 2013:
The Italian Cultural Institute has announced a competition for short films by young Libyan film . . .[restrict]makers.
The ‘’Libya Movie Awards’’, set up in partnership with the European Union, hopes to stimulate the creation of a Libyan film industry and the building of a community of movie makers. In addition to helping discover new talents, this event will provide a venue for conveying ideas on relevant social issues in Libya since the revolution.
Prizes will consist of professional equipment to increase opportunities for the winners.
An international Jury composed by Libyan directors and film critics along with European movie makers and directors will select the works submitted.
In the three-day programme, a number of European professionals will be running morning workshops and lectures about film making. In the afternoons prize-winner short films are to be shown.
Those interested are asked to submit a film for the occasion, preferably a new one, taking note of the following rules and regulations:
- Participants must be Libyan nationals and preferably active since the Revolution (but not limited to)
- Films accepted must be in DVD.
- Film duration must be between 1 and 10 minute long.
- Films must belong to one of the following categories:
- Culture.
- Human rights.
- Movie promo (Trailers).
- Creative short movie (Fiction, Horror, Comedy , Drama )
- Music Videos.
- Animation.
- Awareness Video.
People are requested to submit their work between 10-20 March 2013 (deadline).
Films can be sent using dropbox or using the mail [email protected] or sent by regular mail to: Istituto Italiano di Cultura, PO Box 12475, Tripoli.
Alternatively, movies can be delivered in the Institute’s premises in Nufleen: Shara Mostafa Bazama (Ahmad Ar-Rafiq Al-Mehdawi).
