Tripoli, 24 January 2013:
Using the occasion today of Mawlid, the Prophet’s Birthday, a small group of demonstrators in the southern town . . .[restrict]or Brak today called on the government to release the daughter of Abdullah Senussi. They claimed that Mowlid would be an appropriate time for the authorities to show forgiveness towards her.
The demonstration was reportedly organised by her family, some of whom live in the area.
Unood Senussi, whose mother is a sister of Qaddafi’s widow Safia, was arrested on 6 October in downtown Tripoli, just hours after arriving at Tripoli Airport, She had come from Algeria via an unspecified third country.
On 20 November, she was in court charged with entering the country on a forged passport. The case is ongoing.
