Magarief leads Libyan team for talks in Rome

Tripoli, 9 January 2013:

The President of the General National Congress, Mohamed Magarief, is flying to Italy today, Wednesday, for a one-day . . .[restrict]official visit. While in Rome he will also participate in the Italy-Libya Economic Forum.

He is accompanied by a major government delegation comprising Deputy Prime Minister Awad Al-Barasi, Economy Minister of Economy Mustafa Mohammed Abufunas, Planning Minister Almehdi Agnaia, Industry Minister Suleiman Al-Fituri and the Undersecretary at the Oil Ministry, Umar Shakmak.

Five members of Congress are also included in the trip. They are Faraj Sasi (Benghazi), Suliman Younes Gajama (Yefren), Abdurahman Al-Shater (Hay Al-Andalous), Mohamed Misbah Abu Ghamga (Qasr Ben Gashir) and Safwan Ahmed Milad (Hay Al-Andalous).

Gajama chairs Congress’ Oil Committee and the Committee on National Dialogue on the Constitution. Sasi is a member of the Justice Committee.

Meetings will take place tomorrow.  Magarief is to meet the Italian President Giorgio Napolitano and the President of the Italian Chamber of Deputies, Giafranco Fini. Italian Prime Minister Mario Monti, Foreign Affairs Minister Giulio Terzi and representatives of the Foreign Affair Commission of the Italian Senate.

Libyan ministers will have separate meetings with their Italian opposite numbers. [/restrict]
