Benghazi, 15 January:
Three youths have been arrested in Benghazi in connection with the killing yesterday of a police . . .[restrict]officer, named as Jamal Khalil, whose vehicle was blown up in a bomb attack. Another officer was wounded.
The attack and the death of the officer have followed a spate of assassinations and attempted assassinations of police and other security officials, widely seen as linked.
However, police are discounting any such link in this case. Police sources claim that when caught, the three young men were under the influence of drugs. [/restrict]
