Tripoli, 14 January 2013:
Prime Minister Ali Zeidan arrived this evening in Doha on a two-day visit to Qatar. He was met at the airport by the Qatari premier, Sheikh Hamad bin Jassim bin Jaber Al-Thani, and its Foreign Minister, Sheikh Mohammed bin Nasser bin Jassim Al-Thani.
In their talks the two prime ministers reviewed relations and looked at ways of developing them further. Zeidan was quoted by the Qatari news agency saying he hoped that the visit would ensure closer cooperation in various fields.
According to the Prime Minister’s website, Libya has asked Qatar to open centres to help train young Libyans.
The Prime Minister is accompanied by Interior Minister Ashour Shuwail, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Mohamed Abdulaziz, Chief of Staff General Yousef Mangoush and intelligence chief General Salim Hassi.
Qatar strongly supported the Libyan revolution in 2011, providing financial, logistical and other support, including troops and military advisers. Abdulaziz said that one of the aims of the visit was to thank Qatar for that support and subsequent help. [/restrict]
