Tripoli, 26 December:
Algerian troops killed a Libyan citizen in an anti-terrorist operation in the Wilaya of Khenchela in the country’s east, . . .[restrict]the Algerian newspaper El Khabar reported today.
Initial investigations carried out by a special unit of the army showed that the individual, who was one of several killed, was a 30 year old Libyan national, and the newspaper described him as “one of the most dangerous members of Al-Qaeda in the Islamic Maghreb”, but did not mention a name.
The operation had also provided the army with intelligence about three “terrorist training centres”, the newspaper said, including one in Tunisia’s Jendouba province which was supervised by Libyans who had crossed the border to train youths looking to go and fight government forces in Syria.
Three other militants were captured in the operation, El Khabar said, and one member of the Algerian government’s municipal guard was killed during fighting. [/restrict]
