Tripoli, 19 November:
Japan says that it expects the security situation in Libya to improve following the handover to the new government . . .[restrict]of Prime Minister Ali Zeidan. The reconstruction of the country is likewise now to going to happen, it said.
Welcoming the new administration, the Japanese Foreign Ministry said that it expected the democratisation process, including the drafting of a new constitution, to “proceed smoothly”.
As a mark of its commitment to the new Libya, Japan said that it would provide it with know-how to help build it.
Japanese businesses have been looking to reconnect with Libya following the revolution, but most have been reticent to make a move while security remained an issue. [/restrict]
