“Sam’ena Destoorek: Let us hear your Constitution”

Tripoli, 18 November:

Lawyers for Justice in Libya (LFJL) will be holding a music competition as part of their “Destoori: My Constitution” programme today, 18 November, at the Ministry of Tourism’s theatre, located in front of Tripoli’s harbour on Triq El-Shatt.

The “Sam’ena Destoorek: Let us hear your Constitution” competition requires contestants to sing an original song that expresses human rights themes of justice, dignity, equality, and freedom. Those participating will have a chance to win 1000 dinars as first prize.

The event will be hosted by Fuad Gritli from Radio Zone, and musical talents will be judged by Libyan rap artist Ibn Thabit, Deestori guide Huweida Shebani, and artist Hani Al-Kut.

The Deestori programme of LFJL has been well received among Libyan youth, who are unaware of the constitution-building process. Programme initiatives are designed to mobilise young people and get them involved in the national debate on the constitution.

LFJL will take their efforts on the road with on upcoming “Rehlat Watan: Journey of a Nation”, where a tour bus with Deestori guides will visit selected towns and “educate citizens on the constitutional process, their rights, and their role in the process”. [/restrict]
