Tripoli, 17 October:
Ali Zidan has said he is confident that he will succeed in choosing his cabinet within the two-weeks allotted . . .[restrict]by the National Congress from the date of his election.
The prime minister-elect added, however, that should he be unable to meet the deadline for any reason, he is confident he would be granted a ten-day extension by the legislative body.
Zidan has kept tight-lipped about who he has approached to join his government, short of saying that consultation is ongoing with a broad cross-section of political and regional entities in Libya.
He said that he had agreed with the Congress not to make any statements to the media about his cabinet until the selection has been finalised. [/restrict]
