Tripoli, 29 October:
The announcement of Prime Minister-elect Ali Zeidan’s cabinet is being postponed until tomorrow, Tuesday, according to reports from the . . .[restrict]General National Congress.
It was to have been unveiled this evening.
The reason being given for the delay is the absence of over a quarter of the members. Some 28 are still in Saudi Arabia having performed the Haj pilgrimage, eight are in Canada, one in the US and 20 were reported stuck at Benghazi airport because of a strike. Others from the south were experiencing delayed flights.
It is said that with so many away, a vote on the new government would be insufficiently representative.
However, it is not clear how many will be available by Tuesday if the new government is unveiled then.
