Tripoli, 17 September:
The Ministry of Labour has signed a memorandum of understanding with the Ministry of Education and Employment in Malta . . .[restrict]to provide Libyans with training across a number of technical and vocational fields.
The agreement is the result of a series of meetings between the two parties that have been ongoing since January. Two further agreements were also signed together with the memorandum of understanding between the respective ministries, the Maltese College of Arts, Science and Technology, and the Libyan Higher Vocational Institute.
The signings took place on 16 September in the Ta’ Giorni quarter of St Julian’s in Malta.
The two agreements will facilitate the training of Libyan students in vocational subjects, in particular electronic engineering, electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, welding and information technology.
A group of 100 students will receive tuition for six months at the Libyan Higher Vocational Institute in Ta’ Giorni while another group of 50 students will start their studies at MCAST. Both groups will also learn the English language.
Other initiatives include more Libyan students visit Malta to learn the English language and strengthening the collaboration between the Libyan Higher Vocational Institute and other Maltese educational institutions.
