Dear Editor,
As an American, I feel compelled to write to you and the people of Libya concerning the demonstration against radical . . .[restrict]militias.
We, in the US felt that the population of Libya was not represented by the demonstrations against some Egyptian’s movie in California insulting the Prophet Mohammed and certainly not by the militia attack on the U.S. Consulate.
I feel encouraged by the recent demonstration against militias that have too much power in Libya. I agree that the government security forces must be strengthened but I can understand the reluctance to do it because of the abuses of the previous regime. I can only hope that the demonstration will prompt the government to strengthen itself and take action against these radical militias.
I wish the government and the people of Libya well as they move forward toward increased democracy.
We Americans could move more in that direction ourselves.
Peace be with you,
Charles Keisling
