Tripoli, 20 August:
A car bomb was defused this morning in the Tripoli’s Mansoura district, following yesterday’s fatal bomb attacks . . .[restrict]on the city.
The Explosives Disposal Unit and the Civil Defence Unit arrived at the scene after local residents reported the suspicious vehicle to the Security Department.
Thirty-two people have been arrested in relation to yesterday’s attacks, which left two people dead. It is understood that one of the men arrested is receiving treatment at Abu Salim Hospital, having been shot while resisting arrest.
The Libya Herald revealed yesterday that Qaddafi loyalists had hacked into the Interior Ministry’s communications network and broadcast its response to the crisis live on the Internet.
The men were using a public chat-room service called Paltalk, which enables users to share text, audio and video content simultaneously from multiple locations. It is as yet unknown whether any of these men were directly involved in the attacks. [/restrict]
