Zawia Local Council has announced that local elections will be held in the town on 17 July. Campaigning starts . . .[restrict]on Wednesday and last until 15 July.
Zawia was one of a number of towns had announced plans to hold its elections before Saturday’s National Conference poll, initially planned to take place on 19 June. Like them it decided to delay the contest following an appeal by NTC chairman Mustafa Abdul Jalil not to divert attention from the national contest.
Registration for candidates in Zawia took place last month.
