Tripoli, 13 May:

Two men — an Egyptian and a Sudanese — were killed today when the vehicle they were travelling in . . .[restrict]hit a mine on the Libyan side of the border with Egypt.  Twenty-nine others, all but two of them Egyptians, were wounded in the blast. The men are said to be illegal immigrants who were in a three—vehicle convoy that had entered a minefield after it crossed the frontier.  They took the route to avoid border controls.

The injured, who included two Sudanese, were treated in Mersa Matruh. [/restrict]
