Tripoli, 12 May:
The Ministry of Housing and Infrastructure has agreed the commencement of the execution of general maintenance contracts for public . . .[restrict]housing projects in both Tripoli and Benghazi with contracting companies.
Naser Al-Mana, official spokesperson for the Libyan government, confirmed last week that the Ministry of Housing and Infrastructure authorized the activation of 248 contracts that were under the Housing and Infrastructure Board (HIB) in various areas of Libya.
The spokesperson also revealed that the procedure for companies to import foreign labour to help execute these projects has been simplified.
Al-Mana also revealed that the HIB has been given authority to negotiate ‘small contracts’ totaling over 4000 small contracts, related to the implementation of these projects.
No further details of the value, the names or exact locations of these projects were provided. The spokesperson did not indicate if these projects were to be implemented by local or foreign companies. [/restrict]
