Tripoli, 23 May:

A new desert border crossing linking Egypt and Libya was opened yesterday.  The crossing is between Egypt’s Siwa oasis and the . . .[restrict]Libyan oasis town of Al-Jaghbub.

Attending the opening in Siwa were a delegation from Libya led by Mohammed Senussi from the NTC. The delegation met with Siwa officials and representatives.

The opening of the crossing had been petitioned by Siwa’s member of parliament, Bilal Gibril, from the Freedom and Justice Party. The opening is seen as providing an economic boost to the area. [/restrict]
