Tripoli, 6 May:
Prime Minister Abdurrahim Al-Kib has removed the Deputy Minister of Health from his post. Adel Mohamed Abushofah was ruled . . .[restrict]ineligible by the Integrity Commission on 28 April, for office following an investigation into a number of government officials. The letter removing him was dated yesterday, Saturday.
The commission was set up to investigate members of the NTC, the government, the prime minister’s office and NTC and government offices as well as those standing for election in June to the National Congress to see in any had been involved in corruption.
A number of people nominated to ambassadorial posts abroad were also ruled out by the commission at the same time as Abushofah.
There has been no announcement as yet about a replacement at the health ministry. It is likely that none will be made given that after the elections in six weeks’ time a new government is to be appointed.
