Central Bank sets up charity donation account

The Libyan Central Bank announced that Libyans wishing to donate to charity all or part of the family grant currently being . . .[restrict]given to Libyans can do so through any commercial banks in the country.

The bank said that following requests by  members of the pubic wanting to donate the grant approved by the NTC asunder law No. 10 of 2012, the Central Bank had set up a process to enable family heads to do so.  They could give  the grant or part of it by filling out a donation request form indicating the exact amount they intended to give.  Forms can be downloaded from the bank’s website, www.cbl.gov.ly .

The bank said all donations collected will be put in a Zakat fund. A special account for this purpose is being opened in all bank branches. All funds received by commercial banks will be transferred into a special bank account which has been opened for this propose at the Central bank, A/C No. 20120217.

A regular report will be produced by the bank authorities on the exact amounts being deposited in the account.

Under Law No. 10, LD 1,000 is being paid each to every husband and wife and LD 200 for every other member of the Family Identity Book. [/restrict]
