Zliten Local Council has today announced the appointment of a commission to plan and oversee the town’s first democratic municipal elections . . .[restrict]in almost half a century.
The 12-member commission is headed by a former Tripoli-based judge, Mohammed Saleem Alfeitouri.
The others are Basheer Azreigi, Ahmad Daoub, Imhimmede Elbirbar, Mohammed Ali Essari, Abdulmalik Essofrani, Mohammed Salim Idrah, Alhadi Ishmeila, Ali Juha, Abduladeem Neji, Dhaw Sahal and Fathi Sultan.
In February, following the elections in nearby Misrata, it was announced that Zliten would hold elections on March 20. However, this turned out to be too optimistic.
No date has yet been set for the elections. [/restrict]
