Libyan women invited to Women2Women Leadership Conference 2012 on US

In July 2012, the US Embassy in Tripoli plans to send five female Libyan students to the United States for leadership . . .[restrict]training and discussions on women’s issues. Participants will join 1,200 female participants from 30 countries in Boston, Massachusetts, as part of an intensive conference designed and coordinated by Harvard University.

Participants will develop leadership and collective problem solving skills. The program consists of hands-on leadership training workshops and interactive discussion groups.

The Women2Women conference is open to all interested Libyan females between 15 and 19 years of age. A high level of English-language proficiency is required in order to participate fully in the program.

The deadline for submitting completed application packages is 5 April , 2012.

Anyone wanting to apply to participate in the conference and training should send the following to the US embassy:

  • A personal statement of under 1,000 words expressing why you are interested in women’s issues, what you are expecting to learn from the experience, and how you are planning to use what you have learned in Libya once you return.
  • Current, valid passport copy (English and Arabic biodata pages). These documents must be scanned and emailed to the Cultural Affairs Specialist at [email protected] with the subject “W2W – Last Name” by the application deadline. Candidates must be available for an personal interview in Tripoli in spring 2012.
