Tripoli, March 14: The official spokesperson of the interim government, Nasser Al-Mana, announced on Wednesday that it is now able to . . .[restrict]implement its plans following the NTC’s decision to approve the LD 68.5-billion budget for the current year, 2012.
Al-Mana, who was appointed government spokesman last week, also confirmed in Tripoli on Wednesday that a press conference will be held every Wednesday to provide summaries of the government’s work.
The decision to hold regular press conferences was revealed by Prime Minister Abdurrahim Al-Kib during a live interview on state television earlier in the week. It followed criticism that the government was not communicating with the public.
Whilst the total sum of the record budget has been announced and approved, the details of the breakdown and different allocation and distribution of the budget has yet to be revealed. It is reported that although the NTC approved the budget, it has asked for further clarification on expenditure.
The NTC’s spokesman Mohamed Al-Hareizi had said on Monday that details of the budget should be available within two days but nothing has appeared so far. [/restrict]
