Tripoli, March 20: We have all heard of eco-tourism, but now a UK-based travel company is offering conflict zone . . .[restrict]tourism by organising trips to Libya. Trips by Political Tours allows visitors to experience Libya in its post-war phase, a unique time in the country’s history.
Founder Nick Woods, a former New York Times foreign affairs correspondent, has first hand experience of conflict zones, vital to assessing the situation in Libya. His Libya Tour aims to ”examine the impact of the revolution and recent armed clashes”.
With such an ambitious aim, travelers are warned that the price for the tour “will be higher than normal”, due to the associated security costs. Tour itinerary includes visits to Gaddafi palaces, bunkers, facilities including the Bab Al-Aziziya compound, offering travelers a better insight into how the regime worked and lived.
First-hand encounters allows travelers to speak with locals about their experiences during the uprising, the war and their hopes for a new Libya without Gaddafi.
A truly bespoke experience.
