The Ministry of Communications announced a new postage stamp on Friday to mark the first anniversary of the 17 February Revolution.
It is the first stamp to be issued since the overthrow of the Qaddafi regime. Post offices have continued to sell stamps of the old regime. There has been no attempt to overprint Libyan stamps and black out the word Jamhiriya — much to the dismay of stamp collectors. Overprinted stamps are often very collectable and can fetch high prices.
The new stamp will be available in post offices from Sunday, 19 February.
