Tripoli, 8 January 2015:
Heavy fighting is reported south west of Ajelat between Zintani-led LNA units and Libya Dawn forces . . .[restrict]from Zawia.
The Zintan Operation Room (ZOR) claims that it has been reinforced by 1,800 fighters which were brought into the fight from Tripoli. These, it says, had been based in the capital in readiness for an assault there, but had now been redeployed to the west to take part in the battle there.
Meanwhile, in a further twist, elders from Rigdaleen have been welcomed to Wattiya airbase, centre of LNA air operations in the west against Libya Dawn, and which Libya Dawn has so far tried to take on a number of occasions.
It was reported late last month that Rigdaleen, like nearby Al-Jmail, had agreed to ally with Libya Dawn providing that forces from Zuwara, their common rival, were not allowed into the town.
It is not clear if that agreement is still holding, if it ever happened in the first place. [/restrict]
