Tripoli, 27 October 2014:
House of Representatives President Ageela Saleh has again emphatically denied any allegation of foreign intervention . . .[restrict]in Libya as baseless rumours.
According to Saleh, media reports that any foreign country had had a role in the current war on terror in Libya were false and were being perpetuated by groups intent on undermining efforts to restore stability to Libya.
Saleh was seen as speaking about reports that Egyptian and the UAE warplanes had supported the bombing raids being carried out in Libya against jihadists and Libya Dawn.
Regarding the current aerial strikes in Benghazi, Libyan authorities flatly rebuffed claims of Egyptian involvement. The Commander of Operation Dignity’s Airforce, Adam Saqr Geroushi, told the Libya Herald that the operations in Benghazi had been carried out in totality by Libyans.
The current operations to destroy the strongholds of terrorism in Libya were being led by the national army which was perfectly able to do this on its own, without outside help, explained Saleh.
Saleh called for the media to refrain from printing such rumours “promoted by actors and parties known for their hostility to the project to rebuild the Libyan state”.
