Tobruk, 21 September, 2014:
Libya Prime Minister Abdullah Al-Thinni, and the President of the House of Representatives, Ageela Saleh, . . .[restrict]accompanied by three members of the House, were due to fly from Tobruk late this afternoon to attend the 69th UN General Assembly in New York.
They were not expected to leave, however, until after the HoR had approved Thinni’s new cabinet.
This year’s General Assembly opened on Tuesday, 16 September, and continues until 1 October. The General debates, as which international leaders usually speak, starts on 24 September.
While at the UN, Thinni and Saleh are due to participate in two expected meetings on the sabilisation of Libya, as well as attend a meeting of Libya’s neighbours. They will also meet heads of government and foreign ministers of states attending the General Assembly as well as the assembly’s new head, Sam Kutesa. According to House of Representatives spokesman Faraj Hashem, while in the US they will meet with US President Barack Obama. [/restrict]
